Congratulations!

Today was a big day for Jake. He found his forever home with a wonderful family. Many congratulations to all!

Jake normally doesn’t care too much about being outside unless there are people out there with him, but he didn’t want to come back in the house when I let him out this afternoon. He is really enjoying the sunshine today.

My First Meet and Greet :-)

Hi everyone!!!!! It’s Jake here! My foster mom has been telling me all about this thing called “meet and greet." I finally got to go to one today, and I had the best time! Even though the weather was so yucky, we still had a lot of people come out to see us. I’m the one wearing the yellow “donation jacket" in the pictures.

I made lots of new friends, and meeting these little people was great too! They were so cute and sweet!




My foster mom got me there really early, and after a couple of hours I was totally pooped! I'm telling you, even though it is fun, this stuff is hard work!




Even though I decided to lie down for the last couple of hours, I still LOVED it when people came over to give me some love:) My foster mom tells me I am a total pro at this retirement stuff.

Jake's Weekend Plans

Jake wanted me to let everyone know he will be at the Petsmart in Hermitage, Oakwood Commons, this coming Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00 meeting and greeting. He is very excited and would love to see you there!

Baby Steps

Just a small update. Jake tried the stairs for the first time today and pretty much taught himself. He followed my boy, Motto, upstairs all on his own (I have had a baby gate keeping Jake downstairs until now). Then after going down right behind me a few times, he mastered down the stairs on his own easily.

My daughter had preschool today so I let him hang out in my home office/playroom with me while I worked. A few pics from today.

They are kind of sideways because I took them from my desk and tried to keep my desk out of the picture, but this is what I looked at all day.

Great weekend!

Jake has had a great weekend. He is settling down some since he is getting used to all the sights and sounds that are new to him. This is one easy-going happy hound!

Have I mentioned he crates well? This is how he spends the majority of his time in his crate. He fell in love with my daughter’s stuffed ladybug, which you can see in the back of his crate, and she let him have it:)

On Only Day 2

Jake has been a DREAM so far. He has absolutely perfect house manners (other than counter surfing), but he is a pleaser, and I think he'll learn that this isn't okay quickly.

What I can tell you about Jake so far:

1. He is a HAPPY boy.
2. He is a super sweet boy who loves getting loved on without being too pushy.
3. He sleeps through the night in his crate without making a peep.
4. He has had no accidents in the house.
5. Solid surface flooring is no problem.
6. He rides great in the car.
7. He thinks my 4-year-old daughter is fabulous, and she thinks the same of him!

First Day

I picked up Jake from his vetting today, and let me tell you, he is a very handsome hound! He’s been a very good boy so far. There were a lot of noises in the parking lot when we left the vet's office. It is on a very busy street and cars were honking. He just trotted right to my car with his tail wagging and hopped right in with a little help. This would scare many greys who are new to retirement and aren’t yet used to all the sights and sounds away from the kennel, but not Jake! He did so well on the ride home – just laid down in the car looking out the window watching the world go by. He is very, very sweet. That tail of his starts wagging every time you look at him or talk to him.
